Busy Weekend

This weekend was a long on for sure. I had two cakes to make. One was designed at tiger print and the other one had a Disney Cars theme.

This cake was a homemade white cake with strawberry filling covered in a layer of vanilla buttercream frosting and then covered with homemade marshmallow fondant.  I died the fondant orange until I got the color I wanted and also dyed another proportion of the fondant black. I made the tail using the two different colors of fondant.

This was the Disney Car cake that I created. I used a flat sheet of chocolate cake to create the car, which I carved to look like Lighting McQueen. The car cake was chocolate cake with buttercream filling. The round cake was homemade white cake with strawberry filling covered in vanilla buttercream and marshmallow fondant. This was the first cake that I have ever created by carving the cake into the shape I desired. I was extremely happy with how this cake turned out. Both cakes were alot of work. But I enjoyed making both of them and had help from a close friend on the Cars cake.

Oh my!!

My Kids

So last night was a long night, could not sleep if my life depended on it.. My mind was going in all directions, thinking about what kind of cake I'm going to create next, what career path do I want to take, what classes do I need for an associates and most of all my baby brother. With all that thinking I could not sleep. However, this morning I couldnt wait to figure out what classes I needed to finish an associates in general education.. Which are BA 180 and math 105!! I have all the others, I just hope my spanish from high school works. So many decisions, not exactly sure what to do. So if anyone has any input I would appreciate it. I was also thinking about applying for the Respiratory Care program.. I have lots of things to figure out.. But for today I think I will stick to being a mom..

Cherry Blossom Cake

I really enjoyed creating this cake, the cherry blossoms are all hand made from gum paste. Took quite a while to make them all. I made this cake for a friend's brunch. I used marshmallow fondant, gum paste, edible pearls and cream cheese for the frosting and filling. The cake flavor was red velvet.

Jungle Themed Baby Shower

I created this cake for a friend's baby shower. I started it late so I was up part of the time designing it. This is the first cake that I have covered in marshmallow fondant. All of my decorations are made from the marshmallow fondant and are handmade. I am really happy with how this cake turned out. I aslo made so french vanilla and chocolate cupcakes filled with strawberry filling to go along with the cake, with monkeys made out of marshmallow fondant.

About Me

Hi everyone!!

Alittle info about me. I am married to my best friend, and have two wonderful children. I am currently taking time off from school, due to the death of my younger brother in August. Things have been pretty difficult for me since he has passed. Sometimes I find it hard to get through the day. Im thankful to have my children and family because without them Im not sure what I would do if I didnt have them.

Recently I started making cakes as a hobby and really enjoy it. I learn something new every time I make one. One day I hope to have my own business, but right now I am taking life one day at a time and seeing where it leads me.
